Dist Admn starts impounding lorries
Kochi, Oct 23 (UNI) The Ernakulam District Administration has started impounding lorries as the strike called by the Kerala State Lorry Owners Federation entered the fifth day today.
District Collector Mohammed Hanish said ''the first lorry was impounded at 1600 hrs by the RTO officials and as the process was on, more vehicles would be impounded in due course.'' He said the vehicles would be used to tranport essential commodities with help of labourers.
The owners association called for the strike demanding granting of more time to settle welfare fund dues and remittance of tax.
