DHBVN to launch meter inspection campaign

Chandigarh, Oct 23 (UNI) Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has decided to launch a campaign for inspection of electronic meters in its area with a view to solving various consumer complaints regarding meters.

To begin with, electronic meters installed at urban consumer premises in Faridabad, Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad and Gurgaon districts would be checked by the Nigam.

A Nigam spokesman today said various complaints regarding meter tempering, huge bills and fast reading were being received daily by the Nigam after installation of new meters.

He said meters would be checked by the recognised companies of National Accreditation Bureau of Laboratories according to the guidelines of Electricity Act by the DHBVN.

He said as many as 1,22,812 electricity meters would be checked in Hisar out of which 24,000 had been installed outside the consumer premises.

While 71,000 meters would be inspected in Sirsa, of which 10,800 had been installed outside the consumer premises. Similarly, there were 1,36,000 single phase and 53,000 of three phase meters in urban area of Gurgaon.

A total number of 2,75,449 meters would be inspected out of which there were 1,82,546 single phase and 92,903 three phase meters.

Under this scheme, meter checking campaign would continue to be in progress upto the coming year, he said.

He said only those meters which were installed before August 31 would be checked by the Nigam.
