Kottayam, Oct 23 (UNI) The Church of South India (CSI) will organise 'Green Environment-2008', a seven-day international ecological conference from February three next year.
The conference is being organised as part of the decennial celebrations of its ecological ministry, CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese Bishop Thomas Samuel told a press conference here today.
The church had been playing a dominant role in eco-study and activities among its members for the last ten years. 'Healthy environment for healthy life' was the motto of the Diocese for the year 2007-2008.
The Church's objective was to define the eco-church fellowship, play an active role in the spiritual-environmental revolution and encourage an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Topics like climate change, water crises, ecology, religion and sustainable development would be taken up at the conference.
Central and state ministers, researchers and scientists from USA, Edinburgh University, Sweden, University of Colorado and other foreign countries would participate in the conference.
The Chennai-based Church was organising an international ecological conference for the first time, Mr Samuel said.
