Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 23 (UNI) Kerala Forests Minister Binoy Vishwam today stressed that construction activities would not be allowed in Ponmudi areas, which had been notified as Ecologically Fragile Land (EFL).
Talking to newspersons here, the Minister said he had asked the Chief Conservator of Forests to inquire into such activities, if any, in areas notified as EFL.
Quoting an official statement, Mr Vishwam said directions were also given to take stern action against those responsible for such activities.
Ponmudi had been in the news after the Indian Space Research Organisation entered into a deal, early this year, with an estate owner for the transfer of about 120 acres in the area.
The Opposition had alleged the involvment of the Forests Minister in the ''murky land deal.'' UNI
