Centre approves 'Heritage Corridor Project' in temple dist

Tirupati, Oct 23 (UNI) To promote Tourism sector in Chittoor district, the Centre has approved 'Heritage Corridor Project' at a cost of Rs 50 crore for the developement of various tourist places, including waterfalls, ancient temples and forts, Tourism Officer E Anjaneyulu said today.

He told UNI here the project would be launched soon and the state Government had already sanctioned Rs 6.5 crore for the development of the 'Horsely Hills' as a summer resort near Madanapally in the district on the lines of Udhagamandalam in Tamil Nadu after submitting a Detailed Project Report (DPP) to the Tourism Commissioner for seeking financial assistance from the Centre in the last five months.

Under the rural Tourism project, the Centre had alloted Rs 50 lakh for the development of Srikalahasti, he said, adding Rs 5.76 crore 'Master Plan' was submitted to the Tourism Director for the development of various tourist places, including Ardhagiri Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple, Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple and Kaligiri Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in the district.
