Britain prepared to consider more Iran sanctions
LONDON, Oct 23 (Reuters) British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said today he was prepared to consider more sanctions against Tehran.
''We are ready and will push for further sanctions against Iran,'' he told a news conference after talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Brown told reporters the world community was at risk from Iran's nuclear ambitions. The United Nations has already imposed two sets of sanctions on Iran.
Iran's chief negotiator Ali Larijani resigned on Saturday before talks in Rome due today with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana on Tehran's atomic programme.
The West suspects Iran of working on its own atomic bomb and wants it to halt the nuclear programme. Tehran says its nuclear programme is peaceful and has vowed to go ahead with it.
