2 Indian workers killed at construction site in Sharjah
Dubai, Oct 23 (UNI) Two Indian workers were crushed to death today when an unbalanced tower crane collapsed at a construction site in Sharjah.
The incident happened at about 0700 hrs local time at the Square General Contracting construction site at Sharjah Buhaira Corniche.
One of the workers, identified as Nagaraju (30), was trying to assemble an unbalanced tower crane on the 25th floor when it collapsed and fell on another worker, who was fetching water from a tanker located right below, the Gulf News quoted company workers as saying.
Both the workers died on the spot.
Nagaraju hailed from the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and was working as a crane operator.
The other worker, whose identification has yet to be ascertained, is said to be an employee of Square General Contracting Company and had come to the site to fetch water.
The accident, which is putting a question mark over the safety of labourers on construction site, is being investigated by the Sharjah Police and Sharjah Civil Defense.
