Swami Ram Dev backs Nuke deal, opposes sex-education in schools

Sonepat , Oct 22 (UNI) Yog Guru Swami RamDev said here that the proposed Indo-US Nuclear Deal was in the interest of the nation.

''It will fulfill energy requirements necessary for the speedy development, the Swami said while interacting with media persons here on the eve of six-day ''Yog Vigyan Shivir'' last evening.

He also opposed the proposal to introduce sex-education in the schools claiming that it would have a negative impact on social and cultural values of the people.

''Instead of sex-education, the governments should compulsorily introduce Yog education in schools,'' he said adding that Yoga as a subject was now being introduced in schools in a number of states.

''Even treatment of cancer is possible with the joint practice of Yoga and Ayurveda and Yoga is the best way to get rid of the problems of Migraine (mental tension ),'' he said.

Swami Ram Dev said despite spending about Rs 5,00,000 crore on health services every year, hardly 35 per cent of the people avail their benefit while about 35 per cent of the population could not even afford the higher cost of health services.

''There is need to introduce Yog and Pranayam as alternative system of health in which we can have cent per cent results with zero expenditure,'' he said.

Claiming that with the help of Yog and Pranayam, around 1.5 crore patients had benefited directly and about 100 crore indirectly, he stated that Patanjali Yog Samitis were working in around 500 districts in the country to teach Yog .

The Yoga camp here has been being organised by the Sonepat unit of Patanjali Yog Samiti affiliated to Patanjali Yogpeeth (Trust ) Haridwar.
