SW monsoon withdraws, NE monsoon commences

Bangalore, Oct 22 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the Weather Office here at 0830hrs today.

Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from the State.

Simultaneously Northeast Monsoon rains have commenced over Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas of Karnataka State.

Rainfall occurred at most places over South Interior Karnataka; at many places over Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Very heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Dharmasthala 15.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Subramanya, Belur 10 each, Shivani 8 Arkalgud, Honnali, Bharamasagara 7 each.

Other chief rainfall amounts (cm): Ajjampura, Dudda, K.R.Pet, Maddur, Davanagere 6 each, Karkala, Hirekerur, Humchadakatte, Bhadravathi, Panchanahalli, Halebeedu, Channagiri, Harihara, Ramagiri 4 each, Belthangadi, Puttur, Sulya, Mundargi, Munirabad, Ranebennur, Byadgi, B.Bagewadi, Bhagamandala, Somwarpet, Koppa, Chikmagalur, Periyapatna, Nagamangala, Bagepalli, Channapatna, Santhebennur, B.Durga, Holalkere 3 each.

Maximum temperatures changed little and were normal over the State.

Minimum temperatures rose at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka. They were normal over the State. Raichur recorded highest maximum temperature of 35.2 degree celsius and Mysore recorded lowest minimum temperature of 17.3 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Wednesday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at many places over Interior Karnataka and at a few places over Coastal Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at many places over all the districts of North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Heavy rain may occur at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Local forecast: Generally cloudy with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers. Maximum&minimum temperatures would be around 28 degree celsius and 20 degree celsius respectively.
