By Staff

New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) A stomach injury, which cut short her Japan Open campaign, has affected Sania Mirza's ranking as she dropped two positions to 32nd place in the latest WTA chart issued today.

However, the 20-year-old has managed to hold on to her doubles ranking at 19th position in the doubles chart.

The injury lay off would mean that -- the first Indian to be seeded in the US Open-- may not get the seeding at the Australian Open.

The injury has forced the Indian ace to pull out of the Austrian and the Canadian events scheduled in the next two weeks.

The Hyderabadi girl, meanwhile, will be seen in action in the Hopman cup along with fellow countrymen Rohan Bopanna.

Bopanna, along with Prakash Amritraj slipped two positions to be placed at 262 and 272 respectively in the men's singles ranking.

Meanwhile, in the doubles ATP rankings, there were no major movements as both Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi held on to their last week's 17th and 21st positions respectively in the individual rankings.

There was no change in the rankings for Bopanna as well as he holds on to his 79th position.
