Mumbai, Oct 22 (UNI) The Rupee today slid by 15 paise against the greenback, settling weaker at 39.89 per US Dollar as compared to its previous close of 39.73/74 per dollar, after the dollar rallied against some currencies.
The partially convertible Indian currency started weaker at 39.86/88 per dollar and traded in a range of 39.78 and 39.92 per dollar in a tight inter-bank foreign exchange (Forex) market, dealers said.
The forward primia ended much lower today as the six months premium closed at 0.68 (0.89) per cent while annualised premium ended at 0.69 (0.85) per cent. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate at Rs 39.79 per US Dollar. The reference rate was unchanged today as compared to Friday's (October 19) rate per USD.
The Indian currency against euro ended firm at 56.48 (56.50/51) per unit. Against Pound Sterling, it closed firm at 81.00 (81.02/03) per unit, while against Japanese currency (Yen) Rupee was quoted weaker at 35.01 (34.26/27) per hundred units.
