Kolkata, Oct 22(UNI) CBI officials today interrogated Pradip Todi, brother of industrialist Ashok Todi, and family members of Rizwanur Rehman in connection with the mysterious death of the computer graphics teacher.
Divided in separate groups, the premier investigative agency officers also talked to the students and staff members of the office where Rizwanur used to work.
The 30-year-old youth was found dead on railway tracks on September 21 days after his inter-religious marriage with Priyanka, Ashok Todi's daughter on August 18.
Rizwanur's death, suspected by his family members as a case of suicide, triggered a public outcry leading to the removal of five police officers, including city police commissioner Prasun Mukherjee.
Pradip Todi, the main accused in the murder case, filed by CBI, was called to the central agency's Salt Lake office and interrogaged for hours by a team led by Joint director Arun Kumar.
'' He has given us all the details of the incident,'' Mr Kumar later told reporters.
He said CBI experts had already obtained the copy of the post-mortem report and they would re-examine it.
Another group of CBI officials questioned Rukbanur Rehman, Rizwanur's elder brother, at Nizam Palace to gather information that could lead to a clue to the unexplained death.
A third team of CBI investigators visited the multimedia centre where Rizwanur was engaged as a teacher and questioned his colleagues.
Emerging out of the CBI office following interrogation, Pradip Todi evaded most of the questions by mediamen pleading to be spared for the sake of the investigation. He, however, said Priyanka was in Kolkata and she was keeping well.
A seven-member CBI team arrived in Kolkata on Friday night to investigate the death of Rizwanur, on the directive of the Calcutta High Court on October 16. It started examining different aspects of the case.
