INLD-BJP activists stage dharna to protest ban on rice exports

Chandigarh, Oct 22 (UNI) The Indian National Lok Dal activists demonstrated against the union government's move to ban export of non-basmati rice and raised slogans against the government.

The INLD activists led by the state president Ashok Arora and former president Sher Singh Badshami marched towards the mini secretariat in Kurukshetra and blocked vehicular traffic on the railway flyover.

Later, Mr Arora handed over a memorandum addressed to the Haryana Governor to the SDM M S Sumedha.

The agitators staged dharna before the DC offices in various dfistricts of the state and raised slogans against the government over the issue.

A large number of women activists also took part in the agitation.

Meanwhile, another report from Kurukshetra said BJP activists burnt the effigy of the agriculture minister of Haryana and the union government for working against the interests of the farming community.

The agitators went to the food grain market under the leadership of Shyam Singh Rana who made scathing attack on the union government for protecting the interests of the business community at the cost of farmers.
