Hamirpur, Oct 22 (UNI) Flaying the Himachal Pradesh Government's recent decision to take over the Satyanaran Temple at Rampur, former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said it was playing with the religious sentiments of the people.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said by announcing the taking over of the temple's management and inaugurating the new building of Maa Bhima Kali Temple at Sarahan, the government had violated the model code of conduct besides hurting the religious sentiments of the people.
Mr Dhumal said the party on coming to power after the assembly elections would reverse all such anti-people decisions of the state government.
Observing that the party was not against the renovation of temples with the government money, he said it would oppose such acts when the model code of conduct was in force.
The BJP leader also advised all senior state government officers not to be pawns in the hand of the outgoing government otherwise they would have to pay a heavy price.
Replying to a question on the selection of the candidates, he said candidates would be chosen on merit, dedication towards the party and winability factor.
