Bangalore, Oct 22 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernandes today said the Congress High Command would take a suitable decision on the issue of formation of an alternative government in Karnataka.

Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of a function here, the senior Congress leader said any decision taken by the High Command, would be binding on all.

He said all secular parties should come together to keep the communal BJP out of power.

As the Assembly had been put in suspended animation after the collapse of JD(S)-BJP coalition government in Karnataka, there was still chance for formation of a government in the state.

The BJP was pressing Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur to dissolve the assembly and pave way for early mid-term poll, while most of the JD(S) legislators were mounting pressure on party leaders to explore the possibility of forming a government either with the support of Congress or BJP.

The JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, who favoured early elections, was expected to announce his decision on October 24. Already party legislators have authoraised former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, party state unit president Merajuddin Patel and senior party leader M P Prakash to decide on the issue.

The main opposition Congress in the Assembly, had communicated to Governor that the party should be taken into confidence while deciding on the process of installing the next government.

So far, the Congress had not claimed its stake to form the next government.
