New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) The Rs 200-crore greenfield manufacturing plant being set up at Kashipur in Uttaranchal by Swedish home appliance maker Electrolux, in association with Videocon, will kick-start its production in January next year.
''The plant will start production in January 2008 and will manufacture 2.5 lakh units of air conditioners and five lakh units of refrigerators,'' Electrolux Managing Director Anirudh Dhoot said today.
The Kashipur plant will also manufacture 50,000 units of microwaves six months after the unit starts, Mr Doot said.
The new facility will produce high-end products which are usually imported from manufacturing plant at overseas.
Electrolux has three other manufacturing facilities in the country at Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan, Warora and Butibori in Maharashtra.
Once the new plant begins the market share of Electrolux in fridges is expected to increase from eight per cent to 11 per cent by next year, Mr Doot said.
The consumer durables maker has 4.5 per cent market share in washing machines, seven per cent share in air conditioners and 10 per cent in microwaves.
In 2005 Videocon bought Electrolux Kelvinator, the Indian arm of Sweden-based AB Electrolux, and the process of amalgamation of the two companies were completed in July 2006.
Electrolux which clocked a turnover of Rs 500 crore in 2006-2007 is targeting a revenue of Rs 600 crore in 2007-08.
