4,000 more Rajasthan villages to be connected to roads

Jaipur, Oct 22 (UNI) About 4,000 more villages in Rajasthan will be connected to road network by March 2008, state Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore said.

Talking to reporters here today, Mr Rathore said that his department had already achieved a target of linking 7,700 villages to road network while 3,099 more villages would have roads by March next year.

With this, all villages with population of 500 and 1,244 villages in tribal and remote areas with population of 325, would be connected to roads, Mr Rathore said.

However, around 7,000 of the total 40,000 villages would be left without roads by the above dead line, the Minister observed.
