3 policemen injured in clashes with Puja Committee members

Barrackpore, Oct 22 (UNI) At least three policemen were injured in a clash between the police and members of Debitala Majherpara Puja Committee under Noapara police station, when the latter took out an immersion procession on the occasion of VijayDashami last night.

Police alleged that some people from the procession became unruly and got involved in the clash and ended up assaulting the policemen, who had been deployed near the puja pandals. A few civilians were also injured in the scuffle.

Police said they had been out-numbered by the mob.

Two people have been arrested in this connection, police said.
