Work hard to bring second green revolution:pawar

Akola, Oct 20 (UNI) The Union Minister for Agriculture Mr Sharad Pawar has lamented that agriculture is not known affordable to the farmers, despite 80 per cent of farmers of the country have average two and half acre of agricultural land.

Concluding a week long ''Agro Technology week and grand Agriculgtural exhibition organised by Dr Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (Dr P D K V) here at sports ground of the vidyapeeth today, he said the country would not prosper in the field of agriculture unless farmers take up parallel line of business like dairy farming.

He advocated that various ways and means are to be opted to usher the second green revolution for the benefit of the farmers.

In a his speech, referring the demands put forth by Mr Mayande the vice-chancellor of Dr P D K V in his introductory remarks, Mr Sharad Pawar assured financial help to the Hostel project meant for girls student in the vidyapeeth campus. However he straight way rejected the financial help to sport complex to be built in vidyapeeth campus.

He further regretted that still the irrigation facility is not available in the regions to develop agro sector on rain fed areas.

He appealed to the farmers to work hard in Agro sector for bringing the second green revolution as visualised by the prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Dr Vyankatrao Mayande the vice-chancellor of Dr P D K V welcomed the guest and put several demands of vidpayeeth to the Union Minister for Agriculture Mr Sharad Pawar in his introductory remarks.

Frankly admitting ''Aya Ram Gaya Ram'' from shiv sena to congress and back to shiv sena, Mr Gulabrao Gowande, Shiv Sena MLA in his speech publically expressed his affectionate towards Mr Sharad Pawar.

In a lighter vein he said Mr Pawar should remain at the centre as Agriculture Minister and hand over power to him (shiv sena) so that both mutually cooperate for the benefit of the farmer.

State Agriculture Minister Balasaheb Thorat highlighted key issues facing the agriculture sector The chief minister arrived at the concluding function by one hour late. He arrived by helicopter from Aurangabad and participated in Shivar feri too.
