Villager lynched to death after shootout in Punjab

villager
was
lynched
to
death
by
a
mob
after
he
had
fired
upon
and
injured
a
fellow
villager
in
Raipur
village
of
the
district
this
morning.
According to reports Sudarshan Kumar (55) of Dehpur, fired on Balkrishan (40) of Raipur with his licenced .12 bore single barrel gun, following a dispute over the ownership of some trees.
Mukerian Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Naresh Dogra said that Balkrishan received bullet injuries on his chest and he was first removed to Civil Hospital, Hajipur from where he was referred to Civil Hospital, Dasuya and subsequently to Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur and then to PGI Chandigarh as his condition was critical.
The DSP said that a mob that had assembled at the site of the shooting incident, attacked Sudarshan Kumar with fists, sticks and stones. He was seriously wounded and was shifted to Civil Hospital, Hajipur where he succumbed to his injuries.
The DSP said that two separate FIRs under section 307 of the IPC, sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act and section 302 of the IPC had been registered.
