south-west monsoon vigorous in Karnataka and active in Kerala

Pune, Oct 21 (UNI) The south-west monsoon has been vigorous in south interior Karnataka and active in Kerala while it has been subdued in West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa and Telangana.

In the regions from where the south-west monsoon withdrawal has taken place, day temperatures were appreciably above normal in coastal Saurashtra, Jammu, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Kutch and in some parts of Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha. They were normal over the rest of the regions.

Night temperatures were markedly below normal in Jharkhand and Gujarat regions and in some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch, Vidarbha and Chattisgarh and were below normal in some parts of east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab and in remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh. They were above normal in some parts of west Rajasthan. They were normal over the rest of the regions.

Heavy rains are likely to occur at many places in south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Orissa, Rayalaseema, north interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep and at isolated places in West Bengal, Sikkim, Jammu&Kashmir, south Chattisgarh, south Konkan and Goa and Telangana.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, north Chattisgarh, Gujarat State, north Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.

Heavy rains have occurred at most places in Kerala while very light rains occurred at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Chattisgarh and Telangana.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in coastal and south interior Karnataka and at many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Konkan and Goa.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat State, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Lakshadweep.
