By Staff

Patiala, Oct 21 (UNI) Punjab posted a mammoth total of 447 for 8 in their second innings against Delhi on the last day of the four-day tie in the North Zone Inter State C K Nayadu Trophy (Under-22) here today at the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium.

The hero of Punjab's huge total was India A southpaw opening batsman Karan Goyal, who slammed a magnificent century (109) which comprised 17 fours and a huge six. Sumit Sharma was the other Punjab batsman who punished the Delhi bowlers at will, scoring 94 (11 fours) and missed the ton by a whisker.

Miyank Sidhana was also severe on Delhi bowlers and scored a breezy 81 which contained 13 fours. Ravi Inder Singh with 58 and Sunny Sohal with 58and 47 runs respectively were too in the thick of runs for Punjab.

For Delhi, Harsh Gautam bowled his heart out to capture 4 wickets, giving away 55 runs. No other Delhi bowler was penetrative enough to torment the Punjab batsmen.

Punjab earned 3 points from the drawn tie and has 14 points now in its kitty with one more match to play against the weakling Himachal Pradesh slated for October 24 to 27 at Dharamshala.
