Bourdais clinches fourth Champ Car world title

By Staff

Brisbane (Australia) Oct 21: Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais secured his fourth consecutive Champ Car world title when he won the Indy 300 race on Queensland's Gold Coast today.

Bourdais, who will make the step up to Formula One with the Toro Rosso team in 2008, finished 6.776 seconds ahead of Englishman Justin Wilson, with Brazilian Bruno Junqueira third.

Following his victory in 2005, the Frenchman became the first driver to win the Gold Coast Indy twice in its 17-year history.

The final event of the 14-race season will be staged in Mexico City on November 11.
