10 killed, 48 injured in road accidents

Lucknow, Oct 21 (UNI) At least 10 people were killed and 48 others injuried in separate road accidents in Uttar Pradesh.

A tractor-trolley and a truck collided in Tundla area of Ferozabad late last night, killing five people on the spot and injuring 37 others, police today said.

Some villagers were returning from a Dussehra mela on a tractor-trolley, when a speeding truck hit their vehicle on Ferozabad-Tundla highway.

The truck driver was arrested and a case registered.

Similarly in another accident at Orai in Jalaun district, three people died and 10 others were injured when a tractor-truck overturned late last night.

Two of the injured were said to be critical.

According to a report from Sitapur district today, two youths were killed and another was injured, when their bike was hit by an unidentified vehicle late last night.

Police said the accident occurred on the Sitapur bypass.

The injured were taken to Lucknow, where two of them died during treatment.

One of the deceased was identified as Satyendra Gupta.
