Agartala, Oct 20 (UNI) The Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) today announced the first senior women's cricket team here for the East Zone Women's Cricket to be held at Kalyani in West Bengal from October 23.
TCA general secretary Arindam Chakraborty said the 14-member team, led by Wicketkeeper Anita Debbarmma, would leave the state tomorrow, adding that the team held a meeting at the MBB Stadium today to discuss strategic issues.
With the proposal of the TCA, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Rajat Kanti Sen as the Tripura women's cricket team coach, he said.
The TCA will announce the under-19 women cricket team soon, Mr Chakraborty said, adding that TCA vice-president Biman Bhattacharjee and joint secretary Malaya Chakraborty were entrusted with the responsibility to look after the development of women's cricket in the state.
The Tripura team will take on Orissa on October 23-25, followed by West Bengal on October 27-29, Jharkhand on October 31-November two, Sikkim on November 4-6 and Assam on November 8-10.
