Punjab 201 runs ahead as Delhi falls at 218

Patiala, Oct 20 (UNI) Punjab took a lead of 129 runs when Delhi were all out for 218 in 86.5 overs on the penultimate day of the four-day tie in the North Zone Inter-State cricket Tournament for C K Nayadu Trophy (Under-22) here today.

Overnight 33 for 1 in 9 overs, Delhi lost early wickets this morning and were in dire straits when Aditya Jain took control of the innings and played a responsible knock of 80, hitting 13 fours compiled in 158 balls.

Manav Sharma also tried to control the innings, but he was out after scoring a useful 41 with the help of five fours.

S Prasad scored 25. The other Delhi batsmen could not cope with in-form leg spin Punjab bowler, S S Ladda who returned a magnificent spell to bag 5 wickets, conceding 75 runs.

He was ably supported by Naresh Gogia who captured 3 wickets, giving away 24 runs.

In the second essay, Punjab were in a commanding position, having scored 72 in 21 overs without losing a wicket at draw of stumps.

India A batsman Karan Goyal was unbeaten on 36 and Ravi Inder Singh was 31 not out.

Punjab are now 201 runs ahead with all the ten wickets intact.
