Rupnagar, Oct 20 (UNI) A lower court here has issued fresh non bailable arrest warrants against Bibi Jagir Kaur, after rejecting an application moved by the government for the withdrawal of case registered against the former SGPC president and 11 other Akali leaders for violating prohibitory orders.
Anandpur Sahib Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate Jatinder Walia fixed November 17 as next date of hearing in the case.
The Public Prosecutor Gurdeep Singh moved an application under Section 321 of CrPC reportedly on the directions of the home department in the court, seeking withdrawal of case against Bibi Jagir Kaur and others.
Bibi Jagir Kaur and other Akali workers had been booked under Section 188 of IPC for violating the orders issued Section 144 of CrPC by leading a jatha of Akali workers from Anandpur Sahib to Rupnagar districts courts where Mr Badal was to appear in connection with disproportionate assets case against him and others on December 1, 2003.
The trial of the case is going on in the Court of Anandpur Sahib Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate, which had issued non bailable arrest warrants against Bibi Jagir Kaur after she failed to appear in Court during the hearing of the case on July 2 last.
Bibi Jagir Kaur had also failed to appear in the court during the next date of hearing on September 15 and the court had again issued non bailable arrest warrants against her.
It had also sent two accused Akali workers Hardev Singh Debi and Avtar Singh to judicial remand for failing to appear in the court during the last hearing of the case.
Thereafter, Bibi Jagir Kaur had moved an anticipatory bail application in the court of Rupnagar Sessions Judge Rekha Mittal, who had dismissed her plea last month.
