FIR against Army in teacher's killing, J&K Govt orders probe

Baramulla, Oct 20: The Jammu and Kashmir government today ordered a probe into the killing of a teacher by the Army in border district of Kupwara yesterday, even as the state police also registered a case against the accused soldiers.

Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Afsandyar Khan told to the sources here that special team, headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, comprising senior police officials would probe the matter.

He said a First Information Report (FIR) number 103/07 under section 302 CrPC has been lodged against the Army at the Trehgam police station in Kupwara district.

Mr Khan said the team has been instructed to start the investigations into the incident immediately.

The Deputy Commissioner further said the authorities have also considered a long-pending demand of the locals for establishing a police post in the Marsari forest area.
