New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) City Club became the third local outfit to move into the second round of the Osian's Durand football cup qualifier defeating Assam Regiment 2-1 here today.

Earlier, ND Heroes and Hindustan Club had also beaten the Army teams in their qualifying round matches.

In a match which hardly produced any exciting football, Assam Regiment took the lead through mid fielder Vula in the 20th minute.

However, two minutes before the breather, SAIL sponsered City club's striker Athing captalised on the defensive lapse to send the ball home for an equaliser (1-1).

The second half turned out to be a lackluster affair and both the teams seemed intrested only in defending their citadel.

Four minutes before the final hooter, City club's Rajeev Saini ended the deadlock with a super goal to see his team through to the second round.
