Mumbai, Oct 20 (UNI) The Indian cricket team led by M S Dhoni which won the T20 World Cup, has been given honorary life membership by the Cricket Club of India.
Dhoni and Virender Sehwag could not make it to the function last evening when the membership was accorded due to personal reasons.
Board of Control for cricket in India president Sharad Pawar also could not attend the function due political commitments in New Delhi.
The honorary membership was given away at the hands of I M Quadri, CCI president. Veteran Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar was also present on the occasion.
Vice captain Yuvraj Singh thanked the club on behalf of the team.
Apart from the 15-member team, fielding coach Robin Singh, bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad and cricket manager Lalchand Rajput were also given the honorary membership.
