BJP's Una district meeting for polls held

Shimla, Oct 20 (UNI) The Una unit of the Himachal Pradesh BJP today held a workers meeting to decide poll issues for the forthcoming assembly elections.

Office bearetrs from all the five constituencies were present at the meeting, which was presided over by district party president and Kutlehar legislator Virender Kanwar.

Former state BJP President Jaikishan Sharma later inaugurated the district party election office at Jeeran Wali Sarai.

Former district party president Narinder Thakur was nominated as the district election in-charge, while district secretary Capt Mangat Ram Sharma was nominated as the co-incharge.

The election in-charges for all the five segments were also declared with Santosh Saini being responsible for Chintpurni, Hari Om Bhanot for Gagret, Narinder Thakur for Una, Balbir Bagga for Santoshgarh and Raj Kumar Dhanotia for Kutlehar.

Virender Kanwar said worker's meetings in all the five constituencies will be addressed by senior state functionaries.

The first meeting would be held at Chintpurni and Santoshgarh on November four November, Una and Kutlehar on November six and Gagret on 12 November, he said.

The district BJP unit, alleging non-performance by the Congress government, especially with respect to the Una district, said a number of announcements made by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh during the last four and a half years had remained unfulfilled. Mr Kanwar said the most important of these included announcements of a brodge over the Swan river from Rampur to Haroli, construction of a bus stand and vegetable market in Santoshgarh, construction of a bus stand in Una, bridge btween Lathiani and Mandli over the Gobind Sagar in Kutlehar segment, starting of a sugar mill in Gagret and a 'Gau shala' in Chintpurni.

Former minister Parveen Sharma, former state party president Jaikishan Sharma, Una legislator Satpal Singh Satti, state general secretary Balbir Chaudhary and Jagroop Singh were also present.
