Badal announces construction of bridge on Kali Bein

Kapurthala, Oct 20 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has announced immediate construction of a bridge on Kali Bein by the irrigation department to save Kanjli wetland and its flora and fanna.

He was addressing the 6th Jassa Singh Kapurthala Heritage Festival here late evening. He said the Punjab Government would ensure that Kanjli wetland remained intact.

This festival of classical music, which was first organised in 2002, has become famous in northern India. Mr Badal said Kapurthala has a rich heritage and a legacy in classical music.

He said that Punjab tourism department had been already implementing "Destination Kapurthala" project with a cost of Rs 3.61 crore to promote tourism in Kapurthala-Sultanpur Lodhi tourist circuit.

The Chief Minister sat more than two hours, enjoying the performance of Shubha Mudgal and Manjari Chaturvedi. He released a souvenir on Heritage Festival.

Today early morning the Chief Minister visited heritage sites, including Darbar Hall and Baghi Khana.
