Hyderabad, Oct 20 (UNI) Former Union Law Minister and a renowned legal expert Ram Jethmalani today said the Andhra Pradesh police have arrested innocent Muslim youths illegally based on confessions of the bomb blasts accused.

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Jethmalani said 'confession was no evidence of law. Police should not arrest people based on the confessions. The detained should be released in two or three days, if the people were arrested on confessional statements'.

Stating that the police have no evidence and the charges framed against the arrested in the FIR were not valid, he said, ''I feel that if the arrested approach the court, they would either get bail or the charges would be dropped''.

Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee General Secretary Lateef Mohd Khan demanded that the Government order a CBI enquiry into the twin blasts that rocked the city on August 25, which claimed more than 40 lives and release the 'illegally detained youth' immediately.

Mr Khan also demanded that the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy owe the moral responsibility for the arrest of more than 50 muslim youths in connection with the twin blasts and May 18 Mecca blasts cases.
