Puducherry, Oct 19 (UNI) The Puducherry unit Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) today denied allegations that DMK Legislator Rajaraman was assaulted by two VCK activists.

Addressing a press conference here, VCK State Convenor Vanangamudi said it was ture that two youths had questioned the driver of the vehicle, in which Mr Rajaraman was travelling when it was speeding down a narrow lane sounding the horn continuously.

Mr Rajaraman picked up his footwear and rushed towards the youths. But he was pacified and there was no assault on him, he clarified.

Later, for political mileage Rajaraman lodged a complaint with the police at the instigation of someone, he alleged, adding that the registration of a case under Section 307 IPC was unwarranted.

Objecting to the retaining of the name of the town as Pondicherry and the Union Territory as Puducherry, Mr Vanangamudi said this would create confusion.

He thanked party leader Thirumavalavan for giving a representation to the Puducherry party unit for the three ad hoc committees constituted to look after party affairs.
