New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) Pakistan has denied reports about the presence of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim on its soil and his detention two months ago.

"Apprehension of Dawood Ibrahim (subject of Interpol Red Corner Notice A-135/4/93) and his presence in Pakistan has not been substantiated,'' a Pakistan Interpol communication to the CBI said.

Extensive reports were carried in the media about Dawood being detained in Pakistan in August. Following these reports, the CBI, which represents the Interpol in India, had sent a request to its Pakistani counterpart to verify them, a CBI official said.

The Interpol-Pakistan responded to the CBI's request recently.

Dawood, wanted in several cases including the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, continues to be the subject of Interpol Red Corner Notice as also a special notice of the Interpol-United Nations Security Council.
