Govt releases additional wheat to States/UT
New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) In an attempt to cool down rising wheat price and its products, the Central government today announced ad hoc festival allocation of about one lakh tonnes of wheat at the rates applicable for families belonging to the above poverty line (APL).
Another ad-hoc additional allocation of about one lakh tonne of wheat (0.98 lakh tonne) per month has also been made by the Government for November and December 2007, said an official statement here.
The government also requested the State governments/Union Territories administrations to keep strict vigilance to ensure that the above APL allocations of wheat are distributed as per the procedure under TPDS to the ration cardholders through FPS network so that no leakage/diversion of foodgrains take place.
