South West monsoon revives in Souther Interior Karnataka

Bangalore, Oct 18 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office here at 0830 hours today.

Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over South Interior Karnataka; however it was weak over North Interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at many places over Coastal Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over North Interior Karnataka.

Devanahalli recorded very heavy rainfall of 13 cm.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Halebeedu, Hoskote 9 each; Karkala, Kollegal, Kanakapura 7 each.

Other chief rainfall amounts (cm): Kalasa 6; Madikeri, Ballupet, K.R.Pet, Hessarghatta, Channapatna, Huliyurdurga 5 each; Mudibidre, Dharmasthala, Belthangadi, Kundapur, Siddapura, Chintamani, Thondebhavi, Sidlaghatta, Hallimysore, K.R.Sagara, K.R.Nagara 4 each; Shirali, Sringeri, Sravanabelgola, Mysore, Bandipura, Srirangapatna, Pandavapura, Malavalli, Chikballapur, Bangalore City, Bangalore Airport 3 each; Mulki, Mani, Bhatkal, Madapura, Somwarpet, Jayapura, Mudigere, Arkalgud, Sakleshpura, C.R.Patna, Dudda, Holenarsipura, Hunsur, Sargur, T.Narsipura, Periyapatna, Gundlupet, Nagamangala, Maddur, Magadi, Nelamanagala, Anekal, Kunigal, Tumkur 2 each.

Maximum temperatures changed little over the State. They were above normal at most places over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka being appreciably so at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and above normal at many places over South Interior Karnataka.

Minimum temperatures appreciably fell at a few places over South Interior Karnataka; however they rose at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka.

They were below normal at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and remained normal Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Bellary recorded highest maximum temperature of 35.0 degree celsius and Bijapur recorded lowest minimum temperature of 18.0 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until the Saturday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at many places over South Interior Karnataka; at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over all the districts of South Interior Karnataka; at a few places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over all the districts of North Interior Karnataka.

Forecast for Bangalore: Generally cloudy with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers. Maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 29 degree celsius and 20 degree celsius respectively.
