Gwalior, Oct 18 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Personnel Suresh Pachouri today claimed that the imbroglio with the Left parties, over the 123 Indo-US Nuclear Agreement, would soon be a thing of the past.
''It is hoped that the matter will be sorted out through mutual cooperation during the October 22 meeting of the United Progressive Alliance's Coordination Committee,'' he told mediapersons here.
Pointing out that country was facing a 15 per cent demand-supply gap in the power sector, the Minister added that 3,700 MW were being generated through nuclear sources but the deal would hike that figure to 20,000 MW. The Agreement would neither affect foreign policy nor restrict nuclear testing, he said.
''The Sethusamudram Project was envisaged during the National Democratic Alliance tenure. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's remark on Lord Ram was his personal opinion,'' Mr Pachouri added.
He said Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia's inclusion in the Union Cabinet would accelerate Madhya Pradesh's development. The Congress is in a strong position in this state and there was no difference of opinion.
