New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) A brace by striker Havinder Singh enabled local challenger New Delhi Heroes in ousting Bihar Regiment 3-1 in the qualifying round of the Durand Cup football tournament here today.
In a lackluster encounter, Heroes led 2-0 at half time.
The local outfit surged ahead in the 7th minute when their Nigerian midfielder Harison surprised the rival defenders to score a fine goal (1-0).
Twelve minutes later, striker Harvinder captalised on a defensive lapse to shot home the second goal(2-0).
Twenty three minutes into the second session, Heroes consolidated their lead when Havinder scored his second and team's third goal.
Four minutes before the final whistle, M.A.Tudu struck for the Bihar Regiment to reduce the margin for the losers.
