Mumbai, Oct 18: The prestigious Lakme Fashion Week concluded last night with designer Manish Malhotra presenting the grand finale at the NCPA here.
Manish who has designed outfits for Bollywood Divas such as Madhuri Dixit, Urmila Matondkar and Kareena Kapoor to name a few presented his Winter couture 2007 collection La Belle Epoche- a collection rooted in Art Nouveau which saw models like Jesse Randhawa, Raima Sen, Vipasha Agarwal, Indrani Dasgupta, Amrit Maghera walk the ramp to a thunderous applause from the audience.
The collection, a revolutionary setting overflows with historical allusions absorbed from nature. The vintage traces of this beautiful era are contemporarily styled for a glamorous diva: a free spirited woman who stirs her own trend. Creative usage of embroidery as a texture over fabric has made the entire compilation seem even more authentic with monotones of ivory beige and blacks flashed with unpredictable accents. In every garment the beauty of the Parsian touches of that era were very evident to give the right image to the stunning garments.
The celebrities, present on the occasion were Parmeshwar Godrej, Arun Nayar minus Liz Hurley, the Bollywood brigade Urmila Matondkar, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Tushar Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and others.
