Police said Vishnu Naik was abducted from his house near Kollampalli village in the district. The kidnapper had later demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh.
Based on a complaint from his parents, police traced Tharma Naik, the kidnapper, and arrested him today. During interrogation, he confessed that he had murdered the boy three days back.
Police has launched a search for recovering the body. They suspect that rivalry between the victim's family and the kidnapper might have triggered the crime.
