Gandhinagar, Oct 18 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) has decided to record important events during the forthcoming assembly elections in Gujarat.
''In its instruction issued to electoral officials in every district, the EC has listed out important events for videography which include booth capturing, violence or likelihood of any violence-like situation, arson and damage to public property, public speech by political leaders of various parties, allurements like gifts of saree, dhoti or blanket to voters, election campaign in the periphery of 100 metres around the polling booth, candidates with criminal records and preparation of electronic voting machines (EVMs) during filing of nominations by candidates and counting process,'' chief electoral officer of Gujarat Vinod Babbar told reporters here today.
''That apart, in order to stop bogus voting, the EC has decided to use indelible ink for the identification mark on voters' finger.
Two bottles of 10 cc indelible ink will be placed at every polling booth. There will be 92,600 such bottles of indelible ink to be used during the polls,'' he added.
