Srinagar, Oct 18 (UNI) An official spokesman today clarified that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had never stated that no custodial death has taken place in the state during the past ten months at a function here yesterday.

While addressing the two-day All India Editors' Conference here yesterday, Mr Azad had said that no custodial disappearance has taken place in the state during the past ten months, he added.

The spokesman said that while a major section of the media had reported it this way, unfortunately some had misquoted the statement as custodial deaths even as there was no room for any ambiguity.

The official handout had also quoted the Chief Minister as saying that during the past ten months not a single case of custodial disappearance has been reported in the state, he added.
