Ajmer blast: Police interrogate Khandela Maulvi

Jaipur, Oct 18 (UNI) Rajasthan Police have taken into custody Maulvi Abdul Hafiz Shamim of Khandela in Sikar district in connection with the October 11 bomb blast that ripped through the historic dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer.

Rajasthan Police Additional Director General (Crime) A K Jain said the police have taken the Maulvi into custody for interrogation and until now no involvement could be established. He said the police were also verifying the antecedents of Maulvi Shamim from his hometown in Muzaffarnagar in western Uttar Pradesh.

Maulvi Shamim was arrested on Tuesday night and brought here for interrogation.

Two persons were killed and 17 injured on the October 11 blast that took place at Ahata-e-Noor, 20 metres from the mausoleum inside the shrine, shortly after Iftar during the fasting month.
