Uttar Pradesh: Contaminated 'chaat' kills 2

Gonda, Oct 18: Two workers of medical department were today suspended with immediate effect following the death of seven more people due to consuming contaminated food here.

As many as 425 people fell ill after consuming the contaminated chaat at an Eid fair stall at Vishnapur village on Sunday.

While eight people died on Tuesday, seven more succumbed on Oct 17.

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) today suspended two medical workers-- J K Gupta and Ranjana-- with immediate effect, sources said. Besides, Medical and Health department' Additional Director G C Chaturvedi has asked for a report into the matter within a week.
