690 tigers in MP, claims MP Govt.

Bhopal, Oct 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today claimed that there were a total of 690 tigers and 1108 leopards in the national parks, sanctuaries and forest in the state.

Giving details of the census of tigers and leopards carried out in 2005 and other wildlife in 2004, an official release today said population of langur in the state totalled 2,71,701.

Population of other wild animals in the state included wild boar as 1,89,776, cheetal as1,01,993, sambhar as 38,175, Barasingha as 349, black buck as 10,225 and Neelgai as 60,677.
