Singapore, Oct 17 (UNI) Singapore and Malaysia are aiming to jointly host the Junior World Cup Hockey in 2009.
The Singapore Hockey Federation President Annabel Pennefather said both the Malaysian Hockey Confederation and the Singapore Hockey Federation joined hands to submit to co-host the 2009 Junior Hockey World Cup in Johor and Singapore at the end of last month.
''We will only know the outcome next month after the International Hockey Federation meets in New Delhi. We are hoping that it would be a positive outcome and that we can join hands to host a very exciting and successful event in 2009,'' the Channel News Asia today quoted her as saying.
Meanwhile, Singapore is also staging the Singapore International Hockey Challenge this week, having first held in 2004.
Six men's team and four women's teams competing in the tournament, including India, Pakistan and Australia.
The event will be broadcast to more than 120 million viewers in 50 countries as part of the magazine show for the International Hockey Federation.
