Sidhu distributes free vegetables to housewives

Chandigarh, Oct 17 (UNI) Cricketer turned politician MP Navjot Singh Sidhu has got great gifts in store for his fans especially the housewives which are bearing the brunt of skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.

Keeping the coming Diwali festivities in mind, the BJP MP distributed the precious gifts in form of 'dals' (pulses) and vegetables especially onions to housewives at Chandigarh Press Club here today.

Flanked by Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha national executive member Vineet Joshi and scores of his supporters, he set up his own makeshift Diwali gift shop inside the Press Club premises with neatly packaged onions and potato packets stacked closely with capsicum and other vegetables meant for distribution to the ordinary citizens.

Mr Sidhu, who gifted away the expensive onions and 'dals,' termed the exercise as an effort to take awaken the the UPA government from its ''deep sleep''.

The firebrand MP lambasted the UPA leadership and government for its failure to contain rising inflation and skyrocketing prices of common place things and commodities which are setting the finances of ordinary Indians back by significant quantum of their earnings.

Onions and seasonal vegetables have become out of reach for the ordinary people, he said while claiming that selfish vested interests of the politicians was overriding the interests of the common man.
