Chandigarh, Oct 17 (UNI) Over 18 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far this season.
Of this, six government procuring agencies have procured 10.56 lakh MTs of paddy so far while the millers have purchased 7.44 lakh MTs, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today.
He said HAFED had procured 4.52 lakh MTs of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 3.40 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 1.31 lakh MTs, Confed 1.05 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 27,728 MTs of paddy and Food Corporation of India 3,405 MTs.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Kurukshetra district was ahead in arrival of paddy in the state with 4.72 lakh MTs of paddy followed by Karnal 3.74 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 2.72 lakh MTs, Kaithal 2.25 lakh MTs, Ambala 1.32 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 87,205 MTs and Sirsa 84,984 MTs.
Mr Chander Mohan said the payment to the farmers was being made within 48 to 72 hours.
