Mumbai, Oct 17 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Standing Committee Chairman Ravindra Waikar said that no further standing committee meetings will be held if water supply in the city is not improved.

Fed up of the accusations and complaints from corporators all over the city, Mr Waikar said that it is high time the administration takes note of the corporators complaints.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Opposition leader Raj Hans Singh said, ''The new constructions in the city get enough water supply and the slum dwellers, who have been in the city for many decades, have to face water shortage.'' He further added that the corporators have to bear the ire of the locals who blame them for the shortage.

Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak said that the complaints of the corporators will be looked into and water supply will be improved.

Yogesh Sagar of BJP and Vinod Shekhar of Congress said that the water supply is reduced during the festivals thereby causing a big problem for the citizens, especially the slum dwellers.

Mr Waikar also suggested that the high rises should be made to pay more, to the tune of five times, for water consumed by them so that they consume less water and understand the meaning of water shortage.
